This paper provides a comprehensive survey of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). The paper covers various aspects of VANETs, including their applications, challenges, and opportunities. We have discussed the current state of VANET research and have identified the potential opportunities for future research. This paper highlights the importance of VANETs in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and identifies the key challenges in VANETs, such as security and privacy issues, mobility management, and network architecture.
